Dispersion

Don’t be afraid; hold my hand.

I want these eyes to close, for my mind to be foreclosed so that
I may retreat back into blissful shadows,
indulge in the heady, sweet opiate of dreamless sleep and
Invite in the night that surrounds me,
As I give up my place in my own skin.
I want to seek refuge within
the recesses of my mind, find comfort in the spaces
between the thoughts of my merciless pursuer; but how do you escape, when does pursuit ever
cease when you’re the one doing the chasing?
With open arms, I embrace my own demise,
distracting my ailing, screaming mind
from itself until,
finally,
a splinter of light seeps through.
I open my pores to let the darkness in
So that the light of day may scourge it, flay it,
Eradicate it.
A symmetry of dispersion, a negation
of false conception and illusion pursuant to the one law of self and self-esteem:

Thou shalt not doubt thyself.
