Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
Down slips the façade; one crack laid upon
Another like a tapestry, woven by hands
that simply
need something to do to stop the trembling.
Every breath an inadequacy, every word misspoken;
every moment better left unlived, it seems,
even if just to spare the world (nay, just me) the agony of
walking through
a world in which friends are taken away, where love lies
bleeding from a thousand pinpricks,
and yet,
one foot insists on falling before the next, from some
misplaced volition.
